But if you, like me, only shell out $200 if something is going to be great quality, hold its shape and last for a couple years (let alone one day), then buyer beware. Don’t get me wrong—this swimsuit made me feel like a million bucks while I was dry on land. But the second I jumped in the water, I went from looking (or at least feeling) like Gisele to taking on a closer resemblance to Mrs. Doubtfire in an ill-fitting bodysuit. The quality of the fabric just did not hold up, which was incredibly disappointing (not to mention embarrassing given that I had to spend the rest of the pool party with my gals drooping in the front and my bum sagging in the back).

Look, I consider myself a pretty reasonable lady. I don’t ask for much. Starbucks gives me a hot latte instead of iced like I ordered? Eh, I’ll still drink it. Lulu leggings start pilling? Annoying but I’ll live. However, I do expect one thing when it comes to swimsuits—that I can actually swim in them. Is that asking too much? According to Left on Friday, it is. Unfortunately, despite sending it back in perfect condition (had only been worn for a few hours), they refused to issue a refund. Apparently that’s because the tags were no longer attached. Yes, I did remove them before getting in the water. While it was tempting to leave the tags on just so my fellow party-goers would know I gots myself enough bones to drop $200 on a swimsuit, apparently that’s considered “tacky.” Not sure how LOF expected me to know the fabric wouldn’t hold up in the water…until I got wet…which would require jumping in with the tags on.

TLDR: The fabric is very poor quality, especially for something with a $200 price tag. If you do want to give one of these swimsuits a try, just be sure to leave the tags on before jumping in the pool. (The upside is at least your friends will see how much you spent and they’ll think you’re rich.)

[review originally posted on brand's website] Pills after couple swims in the pool (see photo attached). I bought the hihi bottoms and the Sunday Top and at first try on it fit like a glove and felt like good quality. The Sunday Top has held up but cannot say the same for the bottom. I only worn the bathing suit twice and the bottom pilled after 2nd wear. With the high price tag it should withstand a little wear and tear. Needless to say I am a bit dissapointed over quality of bottoms. Giving it two stars as the fit is spot on and the top is super cute. Wish the bottom would have held up though. Maybe I got a defective item given the positive responses to this swimsuit.
